Mentor Monday

MENTOR MONDAY

A fundamental component of the IRONBOUND philosophy is business mentoring and Mentor

We believe that one of the most underutilized assets in our country is the good will of people and the desire to give back.  Unfortunately, many mentoring programs are ill conceived and flat out unrealistic. We are all busy and have many responsibilities in our lives.  Asking someone to commit to an extended period of time to mentor decreases the universe of excellent candidates.  Frankly, the people that are busy are probably the best candidates to give back.

IRONBOUND’s Mentor Monday is a “delivery system” that has been designed to be concise and achievable.

The IRONBOUND/Universal-McCann (UM) relationship is an excellent example of a successful business mentoring partnership.  For example, during the IRONBOUND/TEAL summer program, Karen Hunt, EVP & Global Partner and Deborah Gaudette, SVP & Group Partner conducted an amazing presentation on “Personal Branding”.  Both Karen and Deborah are experts in the branding arena and work with some of the worlds largest brands (including the responsibility for the SONY pictures account).

Using today’s technology of video-conferencing, Karen and Deborah were able to efficiently and effectively convey some important skills of “personal branding” and then continue their busy days (Karen & Deborah were in Los Angeles and the TEAL students in Newark, NJ).  In addition, Karen was a “Board Member” via video-conference for the capstone event of the summer program.  This “delivery system” worked so well that Karen conducted has conducted additional Mentor Monday sessions on “Branding Your Personal Brand” and has committed to do additional sessions during the 2015-2016 school year.

Mentor Monday will continue to be expanded to include other excellent Monday Mentors in the 2015-2016 school year.

Mentor Monday uses technology to bring world class mentors into the IRONBOUND programs.
