About us
Our History
IRONBOUND USA was founded by Gary Bloore as a mission driven organization that recognized the critical need to increase worker readiness skills in America’s inner cities. All too often high school graduates were not equipped with some basic professional and social skills that will make them successful in a competitive 21st century workplace. Gary wanted IRONBOUND to be a model for developing student enterprise skills by developing a system and a philosophy that teaches students to look at themselves as brand. Like Nike is a brand, each student is a brand. Everything they do affects their brand….both positively and negatively.
IRONBOUND had to walk the walk not only talk the talk. Gary believed that teaching high school product development skills in a systematic and effective method would help increase the likelihood that these students would be ready for prime time…. a competitive 21st century workplace. In 2012 he was advised to contact Michael Pennella, then the Superintendent of the Essex County Vocational Technical Schools (ECVTS), to enlist his support and perhaps an environment for his thinking. In the Spring of 2013 Gary and Mike’s ideas came to life as Gary served as a mentor for 6 Newark Tech students who were to become the first members of what was to be the pioneer enterprise skills programs. Ironbound Education (dot.org) has the responsibility for creating, administering and conducting job skills programs to high school students in urban areas. Our innovative job skills programs have been developed based on entrepreneurial and enterprise skills. Our programs provide skills that are critical for each high school student to possess upon graduation. These skills are more than just business skills, these are life skills that will increase the value of the students in the workplace and in their community.
